iPod Touch 3rd generation work around?

Hello,

We have iPod Touch 3rd generation that are starting to not be able to work with apps we have purchsed due to app updates. One case we are running into is that when a student accdiently deletes an app from the iPod we are not able to get the app back on due to updates. Do you think we could

back up an ipod with the app on it and then restore from backup? or will it update it and make it not work on either since the mac is updated?

TH

- Make sure that you have a the version of all apps that are compatible in your iTunes library.

- Then backup your library to an external HD or similar

iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

- If you every need a compatible version just delete an incompatible version from your iTunes app library and then copy a compatible version to your Apps library

- To copy compatible versions from your iPod to your iTunes library first delete incompatible version and then:

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
