Your disk could not be partitioned. Win7 Bootcamp

I'm attempting to load Win7 on MBPr with Bootcamp 5.0 and am getting the error "Your disk could not be partitioned. An error occurred while partitioning disk." No other information leads me to understand the problem. Does anyone know anything about this error and how to fix? User uploaded file

Hi Guys,

I was trying to install Win10 using Bootcamp on MacOS sierra... something happened on the configuration and now i have a problem with my Hard Drive. my 1 Tb HD now it's showing up a division:

Apple HDD media... 1 TB, internal, Connection SATA, GUID partition map, Type Disk , Child count 0

and... APPLE SSD Media 121.33 GB (the bootcamp) Internal, Connection PCI, GUID partition map, Type Solid State, Child count 4.

What can I do to fix this problem and get back to my single 1 TB, Macintosh HD?

Thanks for your help.

I am getting the same error message - however - this is on a 2013 Mac Pro - The problem with this error is that the Apple dialog does not tell us WHY? So, on macOS High Sierra, I did the following to find more information as to why it might be happening:

1). open a terminal, make it as wide as possible

2) enter the following command to watch the logs go by in that window: "sudo log stream"

don't include the quotes above, I think you have to use sudo for permissions

3) try to get Boot Camp Assistant to try again. When it has the error, look for errors relating to partition creation or resizing.

In my case, I get the following errors - I do not know how to fix it yet but it is apparently related to APFS:

This doesn't solve the problem for me yet, but at least I have some information to go on.

Thank you Loner T. I ran the "tmutil thin... / 999...." thing and also did the whole single user fsck -fy thing as well - no dice. I wish I could just manually install the system using the bootcamp drivers, it seems like it would work if I could just get the bootcamp assistant to skip the parts we do manually. I guess I could remove the SSD maybe and install the MacPro on an external SSD using HFS ? Then it might work?

I had to take it to a repair shop. From what was explained, the issue is that the partition from bootcamp doesn't format the partition in NTFS, which Win7 requires. They downloaded a driver to partition that drive in NTFS and installed Win7 in less than an hour. I don't know any more details, unfortunately. Good luck.

All of that is covered in the Boot Camp directions, I take t you did not read them?. No driver should have been downoaded, the Windows installer does it for you.I hope you didn't have to pay too much for them doing it for you.

Then what does this have to do with the issue?

It is the standard method of setting up Boot Camp to use the Windows installer.

Yes- sorry that that post was not specific and may add to the confusion. I could not get bootcamp to create a partition using the recommended drivers and bootcamp manual. Because I couldn't find any help from the discussion boards, I took it to the repair shop. The approximate explanation given by them is what I had listed above. They did not give specifics about what they had to do to create a partition, but did say an additional driver was necessary.
