Q: iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

Mail isn't the only app that can get stuck, but it is a common one. Look at other apps that use a lot of data, such as Facebook. First try killing all of the apps in the Quick Launch ribbon, then reboot the phone.

If it still gets hot run the battery all the way down until the phone shuts off, then charge for 4 hours with the wall charger.

There are other issues also that cause your symptoms, but these are the most common.

Yes, there is a fix, the same ones that have worked for over 5 years when this problem occurs (as it has for over 5 years), just read the thread you posted to.

I can confirm mine is now fine.

    Go to settings

    Mail, contacts, calendars

Go into iCloud and turn all switches to OFF one by one make sure you save all to iPhone though not just delete

Then go to each other mail account and repeat this procedure again making sure you select keep on iPhone not the delete option

Once they're all turned to off check your calendar to see if everything is missing off it and then you need to do a hard reset by holding the home button and the on/off button until the phone turns itself off.

Once it's come back on go back into settings and mail and turn each switch (or each you want) back to ON.

Then make sure all your apps are closed lock the phone and leave it for 30 mins and then check the battery hopefully if like mine it shouldn't of dropped at all

This worked for me hopefully it will work for others out there

Yeah it worked now. You just have to wait. I just expected Apple wouldn't allow this kind of mistakes.

I'm sorry but that will only work for a few days...tech support had me do that. Sometimes I feel like Apple and these forums have no idea what the problem is. It's like back in the 1800's being sold snake oil....lol. Nothing works! No magic potion for a longer battery life! Apple has to fix this issue with a proper firmware. Hopefully we will see one soon. I have an ipad mini and iPod touch that both have battery issues...not lasting long. Just use it and charge it until Apple helps out their customers. It stinks, it's not fun, it's frustrating, and you don't get to use your device properly. Call me Mr. Negative? I'm just telling the truth. Good luck!

But if the snake oil makes you feel better....keep on taking it.

Well in that case ill try that again and if that doesn't work ill try something else, why be so negative? Maybe it will solve it in mine and others cases?

If you're so down on the battery issues then why own several devices?

DO NOT UPDATE IPHONE 5 TO 6.1.3!

Updated two iPhone 5s 32 GB and discovered the same problem.

It is not that the phone is losing battery power any faster it is that even when plugged in and screen indicates it is charging, it is not charging, it is an illusion.  You can confirm this yourself.

Also try flipping the lightning cable over, likely that when flipped, the phone will not even recognize insertion of the lightning cable.

I conducted various tests to confirm identical problem on both phones within minutes of 6.1.3 install.  swapped cables, power supplies, etc. to rule out all other causes.

Apple store was able to see my problem, was unable to resolve the problem and replaced both phones with phones running 6.1.2.

    Problem now resolved

    Do not update to 6.1.3
