Q: iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

It is ONLY for iPhone 5.  It is a very small update that adds an updated audio profile to the speakerphone.

The 6.1.4 is the last update until the iOS 7 is release. iPhones 5 will be the only device with 6.1.4 software.

And you know this how?  As in the link I posted on the previous page, it looks like IOS 7 could be significantly delayed and even with no delays they estimate a Sept. IOS 7 release at the earliest.  So how do you know their will be no other updates?  If you have direct knowledge of something like that please include a link or reference to where the information came from.  If you are just assuming or speculating this then please mention that it in your posts....  I have never heard of any reports that Apple has ever disclosed information stating that their will be no more updates until a certain time or until the new version of IOS comes out.

NOTE TO ALL: Installed 6.1.4 over WiFi and all went smoothly.  There is a definate improvement on speaker phone clarity and a slight increase in volume level from the speaker.  Sounds like they boosted the low / mid fequencies a bit.  Will report if any battery life issues have changed.

In pretty confident this update won't address battery concerns. As its specific to the iPhone 5. It appears to be nothing more than an audio profile update.

Though perhaps the update process will inadvertently fix it? Who knows.

On a fresh install of iOS 6, I don't have this problem but this is an unreasonable long-term use case.

I installed 6.1.4 on my 64GB iPhone 5 and there hasn't been an apreciable increase in runtime.

This issue, for me, doesn't really conincide with an iOS update.  I had terrific battery life with iOS 6.1.3 until recently.

My only success has been to kill apps that seem to keep background-persistent data connections open and the current version of Facebook (the one that added stickers and chat heads) is a big one in my experience.  If I kill Facebook (in the app tray) my battery life seems to go back to about normal (i have two exchange accounts loaded with push notifications so its still not perfect).  I haven't tried turning off the iOS Facbook service but perhaps that's another option?

We will be waiting until ios 7!!!!   This is a small issue. But I thought 6.1.4 beta was out? So we may get a fix? I thought the end of April 6.1.4 was gonna be released?

I'm like you with my words....try and keep it real. But the rules here don't allow you to really express ones self. I keep it like that.

Battery problem is still going. You would think with the technology today, we can make a battery last days! Or a software that can't effect it. Keep it separate from the software so it doesn't get involved with a update with a bug.

I think the rest of us w/o an iPhone 5 will be waiting for ios 7. Why bother with ios 6.x.x Apple has everyone working on ios 7. Looks like the battery problem will be around for the summer.....what fun.  So depressed with Apple right now. 6.1.4 didn't have anything to do with helping the battery issue...lol

No other major updates for iOS are expected to be released, as Apple is believed to be hard at work on the next major update to its mobile operating system. iOS 7 is expected to be unveiled at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, scheduled for June 10 through 14. Presumably developers will also be provided with a pre-release beta of the software at the same time.

Funny that's almost exactly the same thing AppleInsider stated when 6.1.3 was released.  "No other IOS updates are expected until IOS 7 is realeased with the next product launch this summer"  So I give their new statement no creadibility whatsoever.  No one except Apple knows what IOS updates are in the works.
