Q: Data consumption increase

After installation of new OS I suddenly had an increase of data consumption in 3G mode.

There could be a correlation? Is the system maybe using data traffic in a different way?

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1

One possible factor I've seen in another post:

Unless the phone is connected to a power source, it will disconnect from WiFi, when entering sleep mode, & use cellular data, if a data connection is required.
