Good back up source with apple is iCloud just gotta set up account and it gives u a free 5GB storage and has plans for bigger GB storage backs up just about everything.
Or you can connect ur device to ur computer and through iTunes click ur device then there should be a button that says back up then iTunes will back u up as well

My icloud back up stopped working Nov 20 2013 on a 3 gs with iOS 6.1.3. I have reset to factory set up, powered down, tried a new account , reduced what I am trying to back up and tried an infinite number of set up variations with no success. iTunes back up will not work either. Device is working fine.
Any advice on where I can get some in depth troubleshooting directions as this isn't basic set of icloud iPhone?
