Hello,

Get Temperature Monitor to see if it's heat related...

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12381/temperature-monitor

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...

PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive

Reboot, test again.

If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.

Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.

Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Hi,

i have the same problem with my Mac Mini (late 2012), running with 16 G memory and connecting to a Samsung 27´´ monitor SA 550 by HDMI. While working the Mac freeze (like your image) and is only working after a restart. It seems that will be while running Parallels 8 (and Win 7 Pro) or by using Safari running a Flashplayer Session. I´m not sure. Maybe it is a problem with the monitor ECO Mode sending a signal to the Mac ??

It looks as if the problem is the connection with the HDMI port and Samsung monitors. Is this possible ? I know that there were massive problems connecting HDMI devices using the internal graphic device Intel HD 4000 in history. It is also possible the memory extension up to 8GB or 16GB is the problem ?? It looks like that there is a problem with the graphic card memory using a part of the main memory.

Hi,

i´ve still the same problem. The Apple Support told me they had replaced the mainboard because of a hardware problem with the graphic on board. But after two weeks of running without problems ... boom... crashed. Ok. It seem not to be a hardware problem - or in other words, it seems to be a problem with one or more programs or maybe the OS itself running a little bit of time on a Mac Mini hardware.

The only way your Mac Mini will work is (for me and my actual hardware configuration)

1. Reinstall your Mac OS X to the latest version to ensure the Mac OS X is configuring your new memory upgrades correctly (for me from 4 up to 16 GB)

2. Install a program like OnyX or Coctail to periodically (min after 3 days running your mac) clean your system caches, user caches etc. - you can do this manually but it is much more comfortable using tools :-)

3. The Mac Mini will work much more stable (it works for my hardware, maybe one crash the last 4 weeks)

Ok, this is not the best solution. It would be better if someone would find the real problem to find a solution. It should be a part of the Apple Support to do this ...

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback, I run Onyx and there is no more crash at the moment.

In my side when crash occured I was using Picasa, DxO Optic Pro 8 and Pixel Mator 2.2. I already get some stability issues with Pixel Mator with previous and latest version.

Few weeks ago I also installed some tools purshased into a software bundle like CleanMyMac 2, AirServer, DiskToolPro, etc. I don't know if it could be linked to the issue.

If the crash occurs again I'll call the Apple Support.
