What would make the Library folder suddenly become hidden?

I've always been able to see my Library folder in Finder. I'm running OSX 10.8.3. Library was always displayed beneath my user name in Finder, along with other folders. I discovered today that the folder no longer is visible. My Time Machine shows that the Library folder was visible until 4 days ago, then it became hidden. No software changes that I can think of, unless it was possibly an update to 10.8.3 around that time. Anyone have an idea about what happened? Is there a simple way to make the Library folder visible again in Finder?

Thanks...

The Library folder is hidden by default, so possibly a permissions fix "corrected" the issue for you.

You can easily recreate the Library shortcut in the Finder without necessarily messing with the permissions. In the Finder, option-click the Go menu, and you'll see a Library shortcut about halfway down. Click it to open a Finder window to that location. Now option-drag the folder icon in the titlebar into the sidebar of the Finder window.
