I have a SONY HDR-HC3 HDV 1080i/miniDV camcorder (I can't recall in which year I bought it); my question is this: Is there a way to induce my MAC PRO Retina, running OS X ver 10.8.3, to allow video uploads from the latter camcorder?

2. Follow-up question: With regard to the frist question and issue, does anyone know if I am

Operating System liminted or merely iMovie software limited; it it's the latter, would you direct

me to software that can handle the data from HDR-HC3?

For this camera, you need a 4 pin to 9 pin firewire cable. For example, this one... http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=103&cp_id=10301&cs_id=1030104 &p_id=3541&seq=1&format=2

You will need to check if your Retina MBP has Firewire. Some recent Macs only have Thunderbolt. In this case you will also need a Thunderbolt to Firewire Adaptor.

Then it should import into iMovie.
