Deleted messages reappear on iPhone

Every time I delete messages on my iPhone, they keep reappering. If i delete them the phone wont send or receive messages until rebooted, and after being rebooted all the messages deleted reappear. the only way to delete them is one by one. Has anyone else seen this problem or know what to do?
