How is Inkwell Activated

Question

How is Inkwell Activated

I have an iMac G5 that was purchased last July. I just got a Wacom graphire tablet. I have not been able to find or use Inkwell. What does it take to get that feature going?

G5 iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Yes I have installed the latest drivers. The tablet works fine with various applications such as adobe, EazyDraw, ToonBoom, and Photoshop Elements, but the application Inkwell that is part of Tiger is no where to be seen. So I am wondering how that feature of Tiger might be activated.

Inside /System/Library/PreferencePanes/ there should be a bundle called Ink.prefPane, in /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/there should be Ink.menu and in /System/Library/Components, Ink.component. Do those bundles/packages exist in those locations?

Additionally, which model exactly do you have? There are more than one Graphire tablets

Yes those three files exist, the Ink.prePane, the ink.menu, and the Ink.component. The Wacom tablet is the Graphire, 6x8, with Bluetooth.

Lets take things from the beginning: when you connect your tablet to your mac does the inkwell preference pane appear in System Preferences? That is the normal behaviour of inkwell. Once you connect it the pref pane should appear in System Preferences.

Inkwell does not appear in the System section of the System Perferences menu.

This came from Brian Z.

- Double-click /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/Ink.menu

- Select Ink Preferences... from the Ink "Pen nib" icon in the menu bar

- Viola! Ink preference pane appears

Double clicking the ink.menu produced an appearance of opening but nothing appeared.

Double-clicking on the ink.menu item will add the ink icon on the top right of the menu bar. Clicking on it and selecting the "Preferences" entry should start inkwell. Is this the procedure you followed?
