Playing dvd on iMac that was made via windows

ive made a movie and copied into a disc via windows. when i played it on my apple imac it paused then played and shrudder etc not running smoothly. how can i ensure it can be run smoothly?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Depends on why it's not playing. A couple of things to try:


1. First, check that other DVDs play on your iMac (i.e., rule out a drive error).


2. Try playing it with VLC Player rather than QuickTime. VLC player is free, open source s/w and far more versatile than QT. You can get it here:

3. If it still doesn't play, try running it through Handbrake. You'll need to read the FAQs on the Handbrake page to get the hang of it, but it's not difficult. Handbrake is also free. You can get it here:

Many thks QuickTime Kirk for your prompt reply! Unfort after following your instructions it didnt work cos it couldnt playback as the folder with subfiles showed in grey with the word exec which meant i couldnt open. 2 of the subfiles said cannot open. Anyway got it sorted out by downloading VLC and after several moves it worked but still thank u for your assistance. cheers
