two-step verification require iOS device
Based on what I have read to use the new two-step verification I must have an iOS device. I don't so can I do it by just use my Mac?
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

I did look at this before and it just isn't clear. I guess I just have to assume a device is any computer, iphone etc. But iOS is what is mentioned.
You can put in a phone number for any cell phone and it will text the code to you. You don't need an iOS device.
I've tried this three times now, and I never receive the verification code on my cell phone. I do not own a smartphone, but I had no trouble setting up Google two-step verification with the same phone. Any ideas?
