Why old screenshots show up instead of a new ones?

When I submitted a new version of my book, I provided a new screenshots,

but now the new version of my book is published, and it still shows old screenshots.

Does anybody have any ideas how to fix this?

But the new book's cover got replaced immediately after I uploaded a new version, so this propagation thing doesn't sound very promising. And how long does it take to propagate a Text description? It took about three weeks to review a new update, why the description couldn't be reviewed at the same time?

Some things just don't make too much sense...

Is this your first update?

It takes as long as it takes...based on where you are in the queue, the depth of the queue, etc. Maybe you got caught in an outage or a server update.

Either the old needs to be flushed and replaced as I noted and it's just a matter of being patient, or there is an error with the process. So, (a) be patient and then (b) reach out to Apple, as I said.

Do you need contact info?

I found this on a discussion forum, and it seems that my hopes on updating screenshots are bleak to say at least:

I wanted to update the screenshots of my book that can be seen in the iBooks Store. According to this support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5213?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US you cannot do it on yourself. It says that you have to write an email to apple, which I did. But I got a reply, which says, that they aren't able to do this at this time. Any ideas?

I put new screnshots, new categories, new description, and a new cover art when I was uploading a new version in iTunes producer. The new cover instantly replaced the old one. Then I waited three weeks for a review and yesterday ma latest version became available, sans new screenshots, new description, and new category(ies). So, it's hard to logically explain why some things changed (cover), and the rest of them didn't.

Have to contact Apple when they open for business on Monday.

Talked to the iBooks tech support: this is how it works:

The description and categories - created a ticket so they will allow me to do it. Now I can select only one category in iTunesConnect - they will try to allow me selecting multiple categories.

The screenshots - they will allow me to update them in iTunes Connect.

So, the bottom line: when you're delivering a new iBook version using iTunes Producer, don't even bother submitting new book description, selecting multiple categories (Primary and Secondary ones),

new Screenshots - all these things won't show up in a published book. The only way to update them: to create a ticket in iTunes Connect (for the description and category), and contact tech support in order to update screenshots and be able to select multiple categories.

I wish this was noted in iTunes Producer while you delivering your updated book, otherwise it's a little bit misleading, when Producer accepts all these changes, but the final product misses them.

I've got a responce from iBookstore Publishing Support - actually I have to use iTP to accomplish required tasks:

"Thank you for contacting iBookstore Publisher Support regarding the request to update your book's screenshots and categories.

We have made a temporary change on our end to allow you to update your screenshots and categories for your book with a redelivery using iTunes Producer. Make sure to redeliver all of the screenshots you want to display on the iBookstore in a timely manner.

To update your screenshots, open the book package in the latest version of iTunes Producer by clicking on Look Up Metadata. Then make sure all required metadata fields are filled out (or added if necessary), upload all of your screenshots in the Screenshot section in the Assets tab, and click Deliver when you are ready to deliver the updated book to us."

So, this is how it's done.

Note to myself - when creating and publishing a new book, have to make sure that I don't do drastic changes to a new version, so the description, categories, and screenshots (things that's hard to change afterwards) stay the same for all editions.

That sounds like a great note for all of us 🙂, thanks.
