May 16, 2014 12:23 PM in response to LarryHNby janice263,Since taking the advice of a free option to upload to OS X 10.9.2 just recently all my photos are gone too.
There was over 9,000 of which my only back up was to May 2013. When I open iPhoto (which is now gone from my dock; I opened in Applications) I am told I have a new version, and when I click update (or upgrade) I can go no further. (I should know better to back up; just assumed MyBook was doing that:(

May 16, 2014 12:30 PM in response to janice263by LarryHN,You need to start a new thread as your problem is nothing the same as the thread you threadjacked
It also is not helpful to threadjack multiple threads - simpy start a new thread, supply the information needed to help you (what you have (version), what is happening and what recently changed)

Jun 11, 2014 3:36 AM in response to smorris5900by Smileyx,I have just had this happen to me, 5000 photos gone. I am lucky that I have everything 'backed up' on a LG Device. Problem is, I don't know how to get them from the device and back to the computer. Any help for me out there?

Jun 11, 2014 10:51 AM in response to myronfromflby Old Toad,Try the following you your only library:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 - select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
