Update July 2014: In Chrome settings, Extensions, mybrowserbar wasn't listed, but an unknown thing was, whose description matches the behavior others have described:

Domain Error Assistant 1.4

This extension saves you time by providing relevant search results instead of an error page

I disabled it and instantly the problem was gone. So, it appears that the scumware had just retitled itself.

I recently got the mybrowserbar malware from using uTorrent. In Yosemite, it installers a folder called "Spigot" in User>Library>Application Support. I just deleted the whole folder and I don't get any warnings from LittleSnitch that this api is trying to connect in the background.

Unfortunately, the user Library is now hidden so you have to either make invisible folders visible (using Terminal), or use an app like Path Finder which allows you to browse hidden folders.

I'm an OSX user and this worked for me. Also, I save you the trouble and reproduce the terminal commands here. FYI, you shouldn't run stuff like this you find online unless you understand what it's doing. If you're unsure, follow the link and read up.

The commands that I ended up running in terminal that worked:

rm -r ~/Library/Application\ Support/Spigot/

rm -r ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.spigot.ApplicationManager.plist
