TASCAM DP01-FX/CD + GB3

I know I have harassed you guys enough with my questions, but I trying to get the best combo. for recording and mixing that I can possibly come up with. I have read that GB records at a lower quality rate than the TASCAM system does. How big of a difference does recording quality make towards the final product? I really like the editing/mixing "use-ability" of GB, but my band has had better luck with the quality of recording on the TASCAM. However, I prefer the ease of editing and mixing in GB3.
In this case, would it be better to (and can you) record on the TASCAM, then upload to GB for editing/mixing?
I understand that I could probably save a step by investing in other software, but I would like to try to utilize what I already have (I know, musicians never have all they need... ;>)

I'm going to skip the implied question of "Is GB's Quality good enough" because really thats in the hands of the engineer (A good engineer can get great things with simple tools), however your question about recording in GB or recording with something else and importing the sound into GB is a simple one. There is no difference there, once you start working in GB you are at 44.1K 16-Bit

Forgive my ignorance with the questioning. So what exactly is the effect of the bit rate on the recording? If I can improve the quality of what I'm picking up through my M-Audio 410, I would use it alone. I guess that is something that I'll have to continue playing around with. Thanks for the information.

Forgive my ignorance with the questioning.

No apologies required, ignorance is simply "not knowing", asking questions fixes that...

I'm not sure a technical explanation of sample rates and bit depths is really going to help you, the truth is that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference and many reproduction systems (stereo systems, iPods) don't have the ability to expose the difference.

I will offer a simple example which may help. This was recorded with an average quality Mic (SM57) and a low quality interface ( far below that of your 410)

With good recording technique you should be able to get better results using the 410 with GB
