i dropped my ipad in water..

and the screen and button is glitching and just now ( 8 hours later) i'm putting it in rice will it still work?

iPad 2, iOS 6.1.3, water damage

It might. If you tried to use it whilst it was still wet then that won't have helped, you might have caused it to short out. You should leave it to have a chance to dry completely out before trying to use it again

Damage isn't as much caused by water as it is by short circuits caused by using the device when it's wet. The iPad is built around flash memory, and I've literally washed flash drives and still had them work. The key is to let it dry totally before you try to work with it to reduce the chances of a short circuit.


After you put it in the rice, give it 3-4 days before you try again. I'd wait that long before I tried to charge it too.

Mine works all except the camera and the lcd onmy iPad have a water inside then after it i used it a couple days then i put in on our laptop bag for about 2-3 weeks while it's on and then after 2 or 3 weeks i think so i get my iPad out of the bag and after i open the bag i smell something like the Battery so when i pulled out my iPad on the bag OMG my iPad was really broken and the Apple Logo on the back was crack and the lcd pop up and the screen digitizer was crack like it got drop from 6 feet so i don't have an iPad. 😢
