I can detect wifi but can't connect to internet?

On my old MacBook I can see our Wifi in our house, but the internet is not responding. Every other Mac in our house connects to the internet. I'm on IOS 10.6.8 however my daughter is on this IOS and she connects fine. Any ideas?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

It is a little unclear whether you are able to actually join the wifi network in your home and just can't get access to the Internet, or you can't even join the network.

Does the AirPort icon in the menu bar have black or gray markings in it? Black means it has joined the network, gray means it sees the network but is not joined.

If you are able to join the network, it is possible that your DNS settings may have a problem. Let us know and we will work with you.

Best of luck.
