cant scroll down on error message saying your calendar couldnt be refreshed?

I have tried to copy too much into my calendar and it now has an error message saying 'Your calendar couldn't be refereshed' - I cant scroll down to the bottom of the message it seems to be locked so cant quit it..... this has locked my entire calendar - any ideas?? can I somehow delete the last days activity on my calendar which would solve the problem?
