Q: Imac wont upgrade to use 6 gig ram

I have a 2007 imac that i want to upgrade to 6gig ram which i new if unoffialy supported but i seen many other people upgrade to 6gigs. Right now i only can get it to run with 3 gigs that are in it now. did any one else run into this problem??? when i put the 4gig in it wont start.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), 2007 2.4ghz

The Mid 2007 iMac supports 6 GB of memory unofficially. What happens when you try to install more than 3 GB of memory? Are you using the correct type of memory for your Mac?

well i tyed the 4gig by its slef and with a one gig and a 2 gig and the same thing happens the imac turns on but with no startup sound and the hard drive and cd drive get power but the OS will not load. The ram is PC2- 5300s which is what the imac takes.

every thing seams to be in order here take a look for your self i dont see anything wrong maby the rams just bad.

Macs are a bit "special" with the memory, and some memory brands just don't work with Macs. I recommend to return the memory you bought (if you can) and buy memory from OWC or Crucial, so you will be sure that you will get compatible memory with the Mac > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/iMac/Intel_Core_2_Duo

thanks too bad that its more $ there but maby since i got a bargen ram thats why it dident work thanks for your help.
