MacBook Air screen is flickering

Hi

My MacBook Air screen is flickering like it wants to go out. I don't know why it's doing this or what I should do to fix it. Any help would be great. Thanks.

That's a display or a graphic card problem. In both cases, the only thing you can do is to take the computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get the MacBook Air repaired, because you can't do it yourself. Apart from that, unfortunately the repair will be expensive, because the display and the logic board are expensive parts of a Mac

Are you running 10.8.3?

Does your Macbook Air have an Nvidia graphics card?

I am thinking this might be a problem with 10.8.3 because the same thing is happening to me. I know they changed some things with OpenGL and the graphics drivers for Nvidia, which is what I have in my Macbook Air.

So far, the problem seems to happen with the computer is closed and unplugged. When I raise to lid to wake it, I get the flickering like the computer is about to die. I restart, and all is back to normal.

I have a Late 2010 11" Macbook Air with 1.4Ghz Core 2 Duo and Nvidia GeForce 320M. I wonder if this is a problem only affecting the models with the Nvidia chipset...

I have the same model MacBook Air as Starhawk and it is happening to me as well. Just started after I updated to 10.8.3. Glad I found this, as I thought my display was going bad.

Seems like the issue is the Nvidia driver is freaking out when coming out of sleep. Seems to happen when the computer has been asleep for a long time and not just a few minutes. Anyone else confirm this?

This is a pretty regular occurance now. Earlier today, the Macbook Air was unplugged, I opened the lid and it worked fine. Later in the day, I got the glitching problem again, I tried closing the lid, waiting a bit, and re-opening it to see if that worked, and this time the backlight would not come on. Plugging in the power cable and all works as normal again.

Definitely seems like a bug.

Yes, Same here.... Same issue... And I noticed this starting only after the latest update for the OS... I blindly updated and knew it had something to do with the video driver or something... So has Apple acknowledge this flow (Probably Not) ... All I got to say is quality is going down hill fast! WAKE UP APPLE.... YOU ARE NOT DOING YOUR BEST ANYMORE! DON'T TRY TO BLAME THIS ON ANYTHING ELSE WE PRETTY MUCH DID YOUR TRIAGE HERE FOR YOU... GET TO WORK APPLE!

Thank you for all your comments. I was completely lost as to what was going on with my MBA. I'm in the same boat as you all... late 2010 MBA, running 10.8.3, and have a Nvidia GeForce 320.

I couldn't get my screen to stop flickering out of control... couldn't use my laptop it was so bad. Restarted it and that worked. Hopefully it'll last forever.. probably not though. Thanks again everyone.
