Setting up Via Wireless network

Hi there, Well after finally getting around to fix the power supply on my 2nd Gen Time Capsule, i want to be able to set up a new network via wireless, when i run the Airport utlilty (6.2033) and run through create a new network, its go's ok till it asks for the ethernet to be plugged in. This i dont want to happen as i want 2 networks running on different ip's, But not extending the current wireless network.

Reset to factory and start again.. the TC may simply be in bridge. It has no IP address if that is the case.

You will generally find using v5 utility is much easier to do anything out of the ordinary.

How to load 5.6 into ML.

1. Download 5.6 for Lion.

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482

Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.

2. Download and install unpkg.

http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/

Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.

You cannot uninstall 6.1 (now 6.2 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

You cannot do it.

TC must be set to wireless network of your wireless hub.. it then ceases to be anything but a client in the hub network.

To do what you want you must run ethernet back to the main router.. so you can setup the TC to create another wireless network. You can use EOP (homeplug) type adapters if you cannot run ethernet. Or you need a second apple router.. any of them.. an express or extreme or TC.. plugged in by ethernet at the existing wireless hub. But that can extend the wireless, it cannot create a different IP addressing scheme.
