What happens when you try?
Do you have any Restrictions set on the iPod that would prevent installing those? Settings>General>Restrictions
No, there are no restrictions. Sometimes when I try to download more apps or record or take more pictures/videos, they just say I don't have enough storage. But my sister has an older version of an Ipod touch, and she has the same amount of gb as me and she has 30 something apps and a lot of pictures and other stuff. They never told her anything about storage.
To download and install an app the iPod needs storage available equal to about three times the file download size.
If you sync from your iTunes library less storage available is required.
Does the app/iPod meet this?
I don't understand what you are trying to say. I understand the part that you said "To download and install an app the iPod needs storage available equal to about three times the file download size." But I don't get the part where you said does the app or ipod meet this. Meet what??
If the download size of an app is say 1/2 GB (500 MB), you need free storage space available of at least aboutn 1 1/2 GB.
So I can only download apps that meets the available storage?? Then I can't get much apps, unless I buy more storage right??
You can't purchase more storage for the iPod. You can delete items to make more storage space available.
If you sync apps to the iPod the iPod only need a little more storage that the files size to install the app on the iPod.
Then I would never be able to download more apps than I have right now. Then what's the point of having an 8gb Ipod when I can barely download anything. My sister has a 8gb Ipod and it's the Ipod 3!! She has 100 something apps and 1000 something pictures with 10 something songs and other stuff. Would the only way of getting more apps be to delete more items to get more storage space?? Would I have to sync the Ipod in order to get more apps?? Do I have to do that everytime I want an app.
- Note that the new 5G iPod is only available in 32 and 64 GB and the only new 4G you can purchases is now 16 GB.
- Go to settings>General>Usage and see what is using the storage.
Also connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.
I connected my Ipod on my laptop, and they don't give me a colored bargraph. I opened it on my File Manager thing and it says Apple Ipod. I clicked on the Internal Storage tab and then something called a DCIM folder appeared so I clicked on it. Then they gave me two other file names and I clicked on them and they were all pictures!!
With the iPod connected to the the computer click on the iPod under Devices. You will then see a colored barpgraph. To see what you should see iPodgo to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Overview
Ok I got it now. Photos are 4.64 gb, audio is 96 kb, apps is 625.5 mb, other is 957.1 mb
You have a lot of photos. The amount of "other" is normal and expected
So I have to delete some of my photos in order to get more apps??
Yes.
