Boot Camp won't let partition my disk and install Windows 8

After solving the Windows support software download issue, I was able to choose the amount of space for my partition. When I clicked install, a drop-down panel said: "Earlier versions of Windows are not supported. Please insert a USB drive or DVD which contains Windows 7 or later." This shouldn't be an issue, given that I have the Windows 8 DVD in my optical drive. What are some solutions for this?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), Speck SmartShell SATIN, Black
