Print from iPad to windows home network

I have a windows 7 home network with a brother HL-1440 and Epson photo stylus r340 connected to the pc via USB. My laptops connect to the network wirelessly and recognize and print to one or both printers fine. How can I get my iPads to print to my printers? I have iPad 2 and newer iPad with retina display. Tried a few apps but can't get one to recognize printers. What apps/software gets installed on my windows pc and what apps on iPads? Naturally would like to use free apps/software.

iPad 2 Wi-Fi, Windows 7

iPads print using the AirPrint protocol. If your printer supports AirPrint you can print to it directly from an iPad. Here's a link to an Apple Support page with info on AirPrint and a list of supported printers.

For printers connected to a computer there are some apps that will facilitate printing but you also need a corresponding application on the computer. Check the Apple App Store for such apps.

Guess this is a canned reply? Was already at page for supported printers - mine aren't listed or at least i didn't see them and is why I said what printers I have. Also as said, was at App Store and none i tried recognized my printers. Can someone please reply with actual answer to scenario I described?

Thanks!

Will gladly supply any additional info needed!

printing to a non-airprinter from an iPad

To print from the iPad, your going to have to install some more software:

-- install a printer app on the ipad. many printer makers have iPad applications for their printers. Look in the app store

-- install enabling software on a computer which you have connected the printer
