Page Layout page numbers

Hi, guys.

I am buliding a PDF in Pages which uses a LOT of graphics, text of different sizes, bulleted lists, etc. Because of this, when I began the new document in Pages, I chose "Page Layout" instead of "Word Processing".

My problem is this: I set page number to automatically appear in the footer. However, I have a title page, and I don't want it to have a page number (or even a footer, really). I want the numbers to begin on the next page, and start with '1'. I've been looking for how to solve this, but every fix I find online keeps referencing 'Section Breaks', which on the Insert menu is greyed out since I'm using Page Layout.

Totally flummaxed. Help?

Since each page of a "Page Layout" document is a separate section, you don't need to insert section breaks; they're already there.

Delete the page number from the title page and insert it on the second page.

With the second page selected, in the Section tab of the Layout Inspector, select Page Numbers > Start at 1 (and probably uncheck "Use previous headers & footers"). Following pages should be set to "Use previous headers & footers."

I''ve just tested this in a Layout template complete with textflow from each textbox to the next.

It works as expected.

Title page footer is blank after deleting the contents of the footer.

The second page starts at 1 with Use previous headers and footers unchecked

Third page is correctly 2 and fourth page is correctly 3 with Use previous headers and footers checked

Did you:

Menu > Insert > Auto Page Numbers…/Page Number
