Accidentally deleted a calendar - Help please!

I have got into a bit of a mess with iCal. Just bought an iPhone 5 and so signed up to iCloud for what I thought was the first time. It appears that I already had an iCloud account and so all iCal entries duplicated!! Followed a previous post and managed to remove one iCloud copy (deleted the account). However I have noticed that a calander that already existed on my Mac is still shown and checked in the Calenders list, all of the entries have vanished. They are rather vital to me and I need them back asap!

I hope someone can show me the error of my ways.

I do (thankfully) have a backup.

I had an unplanned visit to a client today, so took the opportunity to call into the local Apple store on the off chance and managed to speak to one of the guys on the Genius Bar. As I had the Mac and back up drive with me he was able to sort out the main problem. Still got a load of duplicate entries (hours of endless fun ahead in removing the more serious examples) but at least I got back the missing items.

I'm glad you have it fixed.

I've written an application that might speed up the duplication removal.

If you are using iCloud, I suggest you copy the calendars to a local copy before using it though, as iCloud tends to not take the deletions, let me know if you'd like help with that.
