TV episdodes for purchased seasons have stopped downloading. Check for Available Downloads is broken.

Usually, I have an applescript that runs from the mail client to automatically check for available purchases whenever an email from apple is received stating that new episodes are available to download.

In the last week, this has stopped working, so I have been attempting it manually, but when I go to Store-->Check for Available Downloads... I get the message that All purchases have been downloaded for this AppleID...

I can also click the link in the email that says there are new episodes for my purchased season, but this does not download the new episodes.

I have had this issue this week with updates for 2 different TV seasons.

Obviously, something is broken.

I know that I can click on the store menu, click on the purchased link, click on the tv season, click on the option for not already on this computer, click on the tv season with new episodes, click on the download button for the new episodes to download...... but I don't want to do all of that.

If anyone has a way to restore the functionality of "Check for Available Downloads..." for purchased TV seasons, I would appreciate a response here.

mkbrogers: That is a different issue. TV season passes have never automatically downloaded in iTunes. You always need to run the check for available downloads. I have an applescript that activates iTunes, signs in with AppleID, and runs the check for available downloads after receiving an email that a new TV episode is available. There has never been a built-in functionality for this.

I found out that I had an issue when I thought the script wasn't working. The script, however, activates iTunes and checks for downloads just fine. The problem I am having is that the check for downloads, whether either run from the iTunes store menu or run from the email link that says new episodes are available, results in: All purchases have already been downloaded for this AppleID.

It was broken for the last series that had a new episode last Thursday, and is broken again today for a different series that had 2 new episodes today. I need a way to get back the "Check for available downloads..." menu option (or the email link) to start downloading new episodes for series I have purchased.

Thanks - different ways of doing the same thing - I manually check for downloads and get the same error - All Available Purchases have been downloaded for this Apple ID - even though there is new episodes to download.

I was just saying I dont uise an applescript to do it - I manually click the check for avaialble downloads.

Either way - there is obviously a problem on the apple side on the Check for Downloads.

I'm having the same problem... Has anybody tried contacting the support?

Yes, but I didn't like the answer that support emailed me. Here are the first few paragraphs of the scripted response that support sent me:

Thank you for contacting iTunes Store Customer Support. My name is Leah and I am glad to assist you.

As an iTunes Store customer myself, I can understand how this situation might make you feel. I will work towards the resolution of this case for you.

I'm glad to inform you that those items may still be on your hard disk. To look for them, follow the steps in this article:

I sent a prompt reply stating that my issue was misunderstood. I restated my problem, using lengthy examples to clarify and re-explain that my issue is with the "Check for available downloads" that is not working.

I'm adding my "me three" to this discussion. Same thing is happening to me both on my Mac and my PC. Can't get the automatic downloading of season passes. Is it since the latest iTunes update?

I don't think it is update related. I received my latest "Top Gear" episode normally using "check for available downloads" on 19 March. The latest episode of "Arrow" on 21 March could not be downloaded using conventional means (neither iTunes check for downloads nor the link in the email stating there was a new episode worked to download the new episode). Further episodes after 21 March are also broken. So whatever event caused this issue, for me, happened between 19 March and 21 March. I don't remember there being an iTunes update over that time period. Did anything else change over that period of time?

This just started happening to me yesterday, no new update to start it. And I too got the must be an error on your part as a response from iTunes support (or rather "Also when you received a notification saying an episode is available and then its not pending when you check, its because the item were already downloaded by you or someone else who uses your account." -- nope). Thus I am encouraging all who have this problem to email iTunes support because if they get enough contacts, they will begin to realize it is a problem on their end and not simply customer incompetence.
