My ipod doesn't show up in itunes
When I connect my iPod to my mac, iPhoto opens automatically but nothing happens in iTunes and I've already tried everything that apple online support said, including restarting my ipod and my computer.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Did you do everything here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Including
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem
I did all of this and it still doesn't work
That usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
