i dropped my new iPhone 5 and the screen shattered to pieces. can i get it fixed with no cost?

This morning I wad getting out of my car when I dropped my two month old Iphone on the ground. It barely dropped, but when I picked it up the screen was completely shaddered. Its hard to read on my phone now and everytime I touch it i get a piece of glass stuck in my finger. I really need to avoid paying money to get it fixed. Can I take it to my local Apple store and get it fixed? Please help. Thank you.
