I've learned from my friends that if you update your phone on the latest software, the signal will be lost, the carrier, for ex., Globe, Smart. Is it true? I badly want to update my iPhone 3GS without its carrier being lost. Can't use my FB & IG app on it. It needs to be updated. 😟

If your phone has been hacked to unlock it for use on other carriers other than the carrier it is locked to, updating software will re-lock it to the carrier it was originally locked to.

I will be using the same carrier. My iPhone 3GS is from Japan so definitely I made it online here in the Philippines. It cost much that's why I'm looking for ways to update it on my own. How can I know if my iPhone is officially unlocked? Thank you so much! 🙂
If it's from Japan, it was definitely hacked. Unlocked iPhones are not available in Japan and the Japanese carriers do not offer unlocking.
