Safari version update

I am using OS 10.6.8 on both my desktop and my laptop.

For some unknown reason my laptop dumped everything and reopened with just the stuff included with the original OS software. I have no idea how that happened.

The Safari version on my Desktop is 5.1.8; the version on my Laptop is now 5.1.7 (before the dump was also version 5.1.8).

I have been trying to update the laptop to Safari version 5.1.8, but I cannot find any way to do it using google search to find a download site.

Can anyone tell me how to replace/update my laptop to version 5.1.8?

Thanks

That update doesn't reinstall 10.6.8 - it just updates it, including a new Safari version.

Assuming you installed the update, not reinstalled the OS - if Safari is in your HD/Applications folder, it should be 5.1.8.

Open the Applications folder directly from Finder - select Safari & use Finder-File-Get Info (Command I))

what version does that show?

If 5.1.8 - you maybe have an older version elsewhere, which you should remove & then drag the new one to your Dock instead.
