Notes is "offline"

Has any soluion been found on this one? My "Notes" is offline quite often too even when I am connected to wifi. It does udpates and syncs when it is online to my iPhone. But it strangely requires more than some 30 seconds of warm-up time after start-up. Any new notes created prior to that is automatically deleted or disappeared.

I have found that it automatically goes offline after my computer goes to sleep. When I close and re-open the Notes app on my MacBook Pro, it then says "Updating..." and proceeds to update for the next minute or two.

I have the same problem! My notes do not sync because of this. Also, notes is creating multiple copies of my notes every time I o offline...Please help!!!

Hi there - I am running 10.8.5. The only way I have found to fix this is to "abandon" the version of all the Notes on the Mac, and "fall back" to the version that is in iCloud - look at this from icloud.com, from an iOS device, etc. I would definitely suggest making backups note-by-note first by copying & pasting contents to TextEdit docs on the Mac, emailng them to yourself from iOS devices, etc.

If you want to try this, all it involves is going to System Preferences > iCloud on your Mac, and disabling the checkbox for Notes. It will then warn you that all notes will be deleted from your Mac, which they will!

After you disable Notes sync, turn it back on again. Hopefully, this will cause Notes to "reset" and re-sync with whatever version of your Notes are in iCloud.

I've read all the above and still have this problem. My Notes on my MacBook are still offline, and are refusing to come online. So I can't sync with my iPhone.

Hi Armen, did you have a chance to follow the steps that I wrote in my Dec 9 message? What happened?

Those steps have fixed it for me all 3 times I've had the issue happen. Again, I'm using OS X 10.8.5.

Hi userfit, no I didn't, because I didn't think it was relevat to me, as my notes are in Gmail not in iCloud.

But if I've misunderstood, I'll try your suggestion.

(I'm using 10.9.1, so your suggestion should work on my system.)

I just did what you suggested, and of course, because my notes are in my GMail account, disabling the checkbox for Notes in iCloud made no difference.

How do I do the same thing for my GMail notes - i.e. reset them by disabling them so that they are deleted, then turn back on?

I have notes in various AOL and Google accounts and all are managed through Apple Notes.

I also experience Notes going offline sporadically. Closing the app and re-launching fixes it everytime....goes in to "updating" (as holtbp suggested above)

This is a really annoying bug and uncharacteristic of Apple. I can't believe they would push this to production and even more, that they haven't fixed this or addressed these user's questions yet.

I know this is an old problem but your solution certainly helped me. Notes has been driving me nuts. Thank you.

I saved all my notes manually somewhere (hotmail, etc).

I tried to close the lid then open. Turn wifi off then on.

Then close shut Notes.

Then open it again.

Strangely, all recent editings are safely saved !?
