I cannot send emails from my new Road Runner account in Mail although all the settings appear correct. The only difference I see in the Preferences is that road runner does not require any authentication and there is no "None" in the pull down menu.

My internet provider recently upgraded me to Road Runner. I have set up the email acount numerous times to discover that I cannot send any emails. My internet provider (Oceanic Time Warner) insists that this is a problem related to my computer. The one notable item I have noticed is that Road Runner does not require authentication, yet there is no "None" in the pull down menu in the Apple mail setup program. Suggestions would be very welcome at this point.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)
