My phone says to update do I just update on my iPhone or does my iPhone need to be plugged into a computer to do the update correctly

I always update my phone over the air. I have never connected it to a computer to update it. You usually need to be connected to a WiFi network and you probably want to be plugged into power to make the phone doesn't die in the middle of the update.
