Does the MacBook white have the "locking" feature?

Hi - I've noticed that on the newer MBP and MBAs that when you close the screen down, it automatically "locks", meaning that you have to put a password in to get back on, but its still logged in. IS this only with the newer models? or can it be used on the older ones like the Macbook White 2011?

Thanks

simply go in to system preferences>general>and check "require password x minutes after sleep or screen saver begins".
