Q: Airport express sets up, turns green and drops out in about 90 seconds

Have tried multiple set ups, am connected with wireless router connecting to powerbook wirelessly and am trying to use 1st gen AX to add to network in AX utility to stream airtunes.  Have tried WEP 128 bit, 40 bit also WPA2 personal as password protection.  Can reboot AX and and utility will find it and set up, will even connect and play but then the AX always drops off the network and untillity cannot locate.  Really appreciate any help, not a good network set up person at all.

Hi, let's see if this helps...

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712

    10.7 & 10.8…

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

    If using Wifi/Airport...

Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

Thanks, did need to set service order and did join other network, altough was same name and password as previous.  Should I change the name of the network on the router and join that instead?

Was able to connect the AX after reboot on it etc but again after connecting and light turned green, it dropped off as before.

Any ideas from what you may have seen work are great.  Thought disabling WEP at the router and only using WAP2 may be it etc...  Just seems strange that it sets up and then drops off despite the green light and it's consistant in how it's doing it.  Thanks much.

I'd try chanhing the Router's name.
