You should be able to select and sync multiple folders on the Photos tab - is that not working ? It's always been then case that you need to select and sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go, as not including photos in the next sync is how you delete them from the iPad

As explained above, you can select multiple folders to sync, as long as all of those folders are placed within one main folder that you direct iTunes to sync from.

Place all of your folders into one main photos folder and then select each of those folders when using the Sync Photos From function in the Photos tab of iTunes.

xxxxThank you this seems to be the answer, but the system must  have changed, previosly I could select a set of individual ticked folders and they would be synced .Never mind I will have a go at what you suggest

Set up your phOto folders with one main folder. Inside that primary photo folder place folders of photos. Do not nest any additional folders inside the folders ith your photos. Each folder will become an album on your iPad.

When you connect your iPad to your computer, select your pad and select Photos in the row of tabs that are presented.

You should be able to navigate to the primary photo folder, then select individual folders that are inside that primary folder. You must have all the folders selected that you want on your iPad before you click on Apply or Sync.

Later, if you want to add additional folders you select the new folder but you must also keep selected the previous folders to keep those on your iPad. Deselecting any folder results in that folder of photos being deleted from your iPad during the sync. I fact that is how you will delete albums you no longer want.

This is my first time in the Apple Support Community-----Please let me know if I'm not following proper protocal.

I've done some research regarding the issue I'm having relating to adding new pictures to my ipad (retina).  I've created a "main syncing folder" in which I've placed the photos I would like on my ipad.  Around half (6,000) load in the ipad then I get a message saying my start up disc is almost full.  At that point I stop the download then delete the "ipod photo cache" file and I get the 14GB of free memory back.  When I start to download the remaing 6,000 photos the system wants to delete the first 6,000 then start loading them again---even though I'm still attempting to download from the same folder..  I guess a work around would be to free up enough memory to get all 12,000 photos in the ipad in 1 sync but that doesn't help me if I want to add more photos in the future without deleting the 12,000 already in the ipad.  The "main syncing folder" I created is in itunes---could that be the problem?  Should this "main syncing folder" that I placed all the photos I would like on the ipad be in the "pictures" folder on my MacBook instead of in intunes itself (itunes is in the picturs folder).  I tried to "drag the folder with all the photos for the ipad from itunes to the pictues folder but that didn't work.  I also tried to export this folder to the pictures folder but that also didn't work----any ideas??

I manage to have a main photo folder, inside that I have folders for each event of mine, and inside those I have a separate folder for the photos that I select as top quality or favourite ones (those are the photos I want to see on my iPad).  That means the level of folders under the main photo folder is two.  Is it possible to select for syncing the folders in the second level down from the main photo folder?
