Library not showing unless PC has itunes launched

I just bought a Mac. I added it to my devices along with my PC, iPad and iPhone. When I try to access my library from the Mac, it only shows when my PC has itunes launched. This doesn't happen with my iPad or iPhone. Is there some setting that I'm missing?

I'm getting rid of my PC so obviously need to be able to access without it.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like your Mac is just sharing the iTunes library that is located on your PC.

You need to migrate/copy your iTunes library to the Mac.

You should be able to do that with Migration Assistant or by just copying your iTunes library folder from the PC to the Mac.
