Broken Charger Cable for iPhone 5

What is Apple planning on doing about all the iPhone 5 chargers that are breaking after just a couple months of use? Got mine in December and it stopped charging yesterday, 3 months later. If you look at the reviews for this product, at least 80% of the reviews are negative due to the cable failing to charge the phone after only a few months of use. And many people are paying for a replacement; Apple is not replacing them for free.
