How do I unlock my wi-fi. I cannot send or receive mail but can get the internet. When I pull up my wi-fi settings under "Settings" it shows a lock next to the network name but I don't know how to unlock it. I have a Key code but don't know where to type it. I have an Ipad 2. Anyone, please!

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

If you can go in the Internet with your iPad using your WiFi network, you should be able to send and receive mail as well. The lock icon means that the network is secured with a password, which you obviously must have known in order to join the network. There is no need to unlock it.
You have a different issue going on the the mail app. Are you getting a specific error message when you try to send mail? Have you ever been able to send or receive mail on your iPad?
And why do you think that you have to unlock the network?
