I have an iPhone 4 running on iOS 6.1.3; whenever i make voice calls, my microphone does not seem to work as the other party doesn't hear me. However when i record a voice memo and play back, i hear myself. Can anyone please tell me what the issue is.

that seems to be an issue with the cell transmeter with the phone. best choice is to take it to apple.
i know the best option would be to take the phone back to apple but there is apple store in my country so I am looking for a solution that does not involve me taking the phone to apple
Hello! I've noticed the same problem with my iphone 4 after updating to ios 6.1.3, I hope Apple is aware of this problem and correct him with a software update. Have you tried doing a restore, as new without using the backup?
Same issue with mic on calls but no issue with Skype or Facetime or Voice memos; have tried all the resets including complete iphone restore, cleaning the noise cancelling port, having a technician check it out, deleting all the apps. No joy; works intermittently on speakerphone. There are too many complaints on this subject to make it an "individual" issue. Is there a bug in 6.1.3? Any Apple technician like to respond with comments and date for software update to fix. Because the phone is currently of less use than a brick.
I have this issue as well, but mine is intermittent. It does not always happen the same length into the call either. I'd hate to run out and replace the phone if there is nothing wrong with the hardware. I know there isn't anything wrong with the microphone itself since I can activate speakerphone and it works just fine.
