Macbook Owners User Name Change

I'm giving my macbook to a friend and have successfully changed the owner's name, following the steps outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1428?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

However, when logged in as that user and I want to make changes in System Preferences, when the popup asking for the password to verify/allow the changes, the default username is the old username, despite me having removed that account.

Does anyone have any ideas?!

I can obviously change the username and approve the changes that way, but it would nice for it to default to the new username automatically...

You will encounter all sorts of these problems unless you do things properly. Before you sell or give away a Mac, use its original System Install DVD and erase the disk. Then, reinstall OS X. When you get to the new owner setup procedure, just shut down the Mac. Its new owner will take it from there.

Give him your System and Applications Install DVDs. These must always accompany a Mac unless it was built with Lion or Mountain Lion already installed from the factory.
