cd/dvd drive not working after 10.6.8 upgrade

Hi,

did anyone experience the problem of Superdrive (cd/dvd) stop working after upgrading from OS 10.5.8 to OS 10.6.8?

Read previous discussions and have tried repairing permissions, reseting PRAM, installing iLife (but have only veriosn '09) n nothing works. The only DVD that can be read so far is the installation disc for iLife '09!! Any other DVD, MP3 AudioCD, VCD, DataCD r not recognised. How is that possible? All disc I pop in, the system will tell me that the disc is blank. Even the iWork installation disc showed up as blank. And if I try to write on the disc, it will tell me that it couldnt read the disc. Really ***** that apple stop supporting 10.5.8 n then the upgrade kills my Superdrive!

Does anyone know a fix to this problem?
