I recently got a Macbook pro early 2008 and one day the screen showed all these colors and got whiter and whiter then the screen went completely black with the back light still on. I connected it to my cinema display and it shows everything fine there. Do I need a screen replacement or is this just the OS messing up?

MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues. The affected computers were manufactured between approximately May 2007 and September 2008.
MacBook Pro (Early 2008): Dark bands showing intermittently on built-in display
1. Reduce the brightness of the screen one or a few notches
2. Control - Shift - Eject
3. Wake screen with any key
4. Did the lines go away and stay away?
It worked on our old MBP but of course the brightness is missed!
