I was transferring files. The transfer stopped mid way and now migration assistant cannot reconnect to my Mac. This is during new set up. Message says "waiting for Mac to connect" nothing I do will restart the transfer. Mac appears to be frozen at the stage it quit running

Hi, I'm afraid you have to power down & start over.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Repair the drive on the PC also, try again.
