Mar 28, 2013 9:50 AM in response to Zligby tagguy,Thanks. It appears that there is not an "insert" function on the MacBook Pro keyboard according to that chart (and everything else I'm finding). Seems to be keyboard specific.

Mar 28, 2013 10:04 AM in response to tagguyby Eustace Mendis,This discussion suggests Fn + M is the equivalent of Insert. See the last post in the thread.

Mar 3, 2014 10:18 PM in response to tagguyby graecole,I had the same experience as TagGuy. I was using a plug in keyboard (with number pad), and monitor connected to my Mac Book Pro and the Fn + Return just tabbed to the next field. However, when I performed Fn + Return ON THE LAPTOP keyboard it perform the INSERT function. Hope it works for you.

Apr 12, 2014 9:55 PM in response to tagguyby krishnan,Had the same exprience like TagGuy. Did any of the suggestions worked out for you?
BTW this was my problem, I use RDP on my macbook pro to connect to my work pc and I login to my unix account through exceed on-demand client from my work pc. My unix text editor is vim. I tried all possible keystrokes, none of them helped achieve shift+insert (paste) the copied text into the editor. I found out a round about way through good old windows on-screen keyboard. It's a 3 step process but comes handy and acts as my only resort. Anyways, I select the text ( or copy it normally) from anywhere in my pc, then go into the editor and execute shift+insert on the on-screen keyboard and that flawlessly pastes the copied text into my editor. From that time on, I always keep the on-screen keyboard open while doing RDP on my macbook pro.

Apr 19, 2014 7:07 PM in response to Zligby flyingknifefrog,Google and find this post.
Zlig, Thanks a lot for your hint, it works for me.
I use MBP 2013 Late + Parallels Desktop + Windows VM + Putty.
'Shift+Fn+Return' can do Paste , so seems that 'Fn+Return' can serve as 'Insert'

Nov 22, 2014 8:12 PM in response to tagguyby bradfromGB,It took me awhile to figure it out but use control + c for cut and control + v for paste. It worked for me using a macbook pro connected to windows 7 through RDP.
