I replaced the digitizer on it and now the home button is unresponsive. All of the connections appear to be good

- If you have iOS 5 and later you can turn on Assistive Touch it add the Home and other buttons to the iPods screen. Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch
No ios 5 its a 2g ipod touch idiot
Did you try the alcohol?
iFIxit says:
Note the small gold "square" above the dock connector. It's actually a conducting spring that rests against the home button. The button acts as a switch, connecting the spring to ground (the dock connector) when it's pressed.
Does that look right on yours?

Find a device rapair shop near you. I had the same problem and got it fixed for 50 dollars in like 3 hours.

I do not think the poster is still waiting for suggestions. Also, $5o is more than a 2G iPod is now worth
