iWeb Replacement

Is Apple going to be replacing iWeb anytime soon? I really don't like the the alternatives. Freeway Pro, Rapidweaver and Sandvox. I have them all and none do I like. Too many add on things in hopes of making a better page. Too much cost.

I really want iWeb or a new version now. iWeb is OK but limited now because of no further support.

NO, you CANNOT import html code into EverWeb - that is what people have been trying to tell you - EverWeb and the likes of other programmes like it have no import facility, so CANNOT import html code of any sort, which is why you have to cut and paste.

If you want to import code, then you will have to purchase DreamWeaver from Adobe or Flux 6 - both of these have import facilities, but your site will probably not look the same as iWeb html is loaded and it really won't be worth doing.

As for Google website builder, this is designed to be used with Google.

If you want to re-do your site, give EverWeb a try.

Updates and changes in iWeb: There won't be any further updates to iWeb - it is unsupported software. As for updates to OS X. Yes, these will definitely happen and then at some point in time iWeb will stop working, so you really need to think about moving on now rather than later, before you are forced to.

Time to move on - there is better software out there now and other programmes can do a lot more than iWeb ever could - in the days when I used iWeb, I still had to use html code to get the kind of site that I wanted.

Yes, Apple did "Care to tell you" and they informed all MobileMe customers/users that it would be discontinued at least a year and then six months before it went, so you had time to look for alternative hosting. This was done by e-mail at least a year and then six months before, so you were told.

iWeb was discontinued because MobileMe was discontinued and when MobileMe went, there was no need for iWeb, hence why it is an unsupported product.

iCloud does not offer hosting, so no need for iWeb and there are better products out there now and companies that concentrate their efforts solely on software, that Apple do not do.

Yes, I realise that you never used MobileMe and don't use iCloud - iCloud does not allow for web hosting anyway, which is why Apple shelved iWeb in the first place.

The replies about MobileMe and iCloud were not to you, but to others!

Copying and pasting the html will not really work with a WYSIWYG programme. It is a lot better just to start from scratch and copy and paste the content, as it was intended.

You don't need to do it all in one go, but you can do it gradually and then you have a nice new website at the end of it in a programme that is supported and your can then upload it.
